SUMMARY:
Our client, one of the world's leading Renewable Energy companies is looking for a Bid Manager to join their team.
POSITION INFO:
Responsibilities
In conjunction with the management team, assist in selecting tenders to pursue based on attractiveness, relative competitiveness, capabilities and workload.
Ongoing market intelligence gathering in respect of technical strategy, cost of debt and equity, ED/SED structures, etc.
Managing and coordinating the outputs of tendering support personnel towards achieving tendering timelines and objectives.
Overseeing the timely and professional preparation of tender submissions; evaluating technical and commercial requirements and assigning portions of the scope to various internal parties and suppliers to incorporate necessary elements, including:
- Compliance with the necessary permits and approvals as per bid qualification and evaluation criteria
- Bills of materials
- Pricing schedules
- Project programmes
- Drawings and technical backup information
- Technical schedules
- Commercial structuring (setting up of SPVs)
- Negotiation with lenders and sponsors
- Contract management (with support from legal), EPC, PPA, DA, etc.
- Financial modelling
- BB-BEE responses (in conjunction with the Economic Development Manager)
- Preparing and following up on tender clarification submissions.
- Ensuring that tender site meetings are attended, and relevant information fed back for inclusion in tenders.
- Assist in evaluating conditions of tender/contract and mitigating the company’s risk exposure by reporting any potential concerns to the management team and internal legal team.
- Preparing and presenting tender/s for approval purposes.
- Preparing the offer for inclusion in tenders or unsolicited proposals.
- In conjunction with the Supply Chain Manager and Legal Manager, support contract award negotiations.
- Working in accordance with ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Compiling and submitting reports on tendering feedback on a monthly basis.
- Performing any other ancillary and other duties that may be reasonably expected by the company, as and when required.
- In view of the nature of tendering, emphasis needs to be placed on t ime management, co-ordination ofactivities, accuracy, attention to detail and performing in a pressured environment.
Other Requirements
- Willingness to travel to relevant project sites and headquarters will be required in line with business requirements.
- In addition to the duties mentioned above, the job holder is required to carry out other duties that are in essence part of his/her area of activity, according to his/her knowledge and abilities
- Qualifications and Experience
- An Engineering Degree (Electrical, Civil or Mechanical) and a recognized commercial qualification 5 or more years relevant experience
- Bid management leading to qualified (or better yet awarded) bid(s) within the REIPPPP, the SPIPPPP or RMIPPPP is a prerequisite. This is ideally as Bid Manager however close involvement in a team from beginning to end will be considered
- Commercial and financial understanding/experience.
- Strong Computer literacy and competent in using MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project and Adobe Pro
- Strong communication skills and assertive business acumen.
- Ability to converse in French and Portuguese is advantageous
- Ability to work under pressures for extended periods
- Team player
- High levels of organizational ability
