SUMMARY:
Commercial/Project Manager

POSITION INFO:

The main objective of this position is: 

  • To analyse, prepare and compile accurate tenders for existing and potential clients timeously.
  • To ensure tenders is served with accurate and well prepared applications for submission to clients and potential clients.
  • Be responsible, negotiate and ensure all contractual terms and conditions from clients for tenders are adhered to.

 The successful candidate will be responsible for: 

  • Cost planning and management until award of the project.
  • Liaise with the relevant project manager to gather accurate information in terms of the scope of work.
  • Identify proposal and contractual requirements for tenders from enquiry documents
  • Assist with drawing up of all supporting documents that need to be submitted with tenders.
  • To obtain all relevant information from the Project manager to understand the resources needed and durations necessary to compile an accurate tender for a project.
  • Submit tenders that adheres to the client’s format, as well as the terms and conditions for tenders.
  • Obtain accurate and up to date prices from suppliers.
  • To keep track of orders placed to suppliers and ensure these involved stay within the system rules.
  • Keep track of projects registered; review these projects to ensure they are accurate.
  • Ensure all clients and suppliers are registered and credible before business is conducted with them.
  • Relay accurate and detailed information regarding project and contractual requirements to operations and project managers
  • Follow up on clients intend in terms of payments and/or negotiate early payments.
  • Keep an accurate record of the value of projects completed, in progress and potential projects.
  • Keep an accurate record of all tenders submitted, won and lost including following up on reasons.
  • Provide procurement and contract administration advice and assistance during the tendering procedures
  • Prepare claims for extra costs of project scopes and work variation
  • Ensure document preparation especially bills of quantities, high level project schedules
  • To assist with monitoring of all financial and contractual aspects of the projects to ensure optimal pricing and budget control.

 Key Requirements 

  • Mechanical Project Management experience
  • Quantity Surveyor Experience
  • Experience in NEC, FIDIC and GCC contracts
  • Grade 12 with relevant tertiary qualification (preferably Mechanical related)
  • 5 – 7 years experience in a similar role – project background will be an advantage
  • High Microsoft Office proficiency especially Excel, Word and Projects
  • Previous site and contract negotiation experience will be an advantage          
  • Mechanical, industrial engineering and refractory experience will be an advantage
  • Salesforce knowledge will be an advantage
