JOB SUMMARY:
Our client, a highly visible and globally active NPO located in the Cape Town Waterfront seeks to employ a top-calibre individual experienced in the oversight and management of fundraising, resources, membership, program administration and operations. Responsible for the development and implementation of a proactive plan supporting the development and cultivation of engagement with strategic partners.

Minimum Requirements:
Qualification:

  • 3 Year bachelor’s degree/ diploma or equivalent NQF level.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in related field with management experience.
  • Soliciting funds through corporates, donors, sponsorships, patrons, and philanthropy.
  • Database base management experience.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Highly personable, with excellent spoken and written English and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Strong ability to engage and influence at senior levels.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to effectively priorities and manage multiple tasks and coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints and completion within deadlines.
  • Excellent research, writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
  • Negotiation skills and ability to build productive business relationships and close sales or conversions.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Word & Excel for reporting and analysis.
  • Good skills of the utilization of information systems to support fund-raising activities
  • Excellent attention to detail, and a high rate of productivity, with follow up.
  • Ability to manage confidential records and sensitive donor information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Strong relationship, networking building and the maintenance of these.
  • Ability to work under pressure and be resilient.
  • Good project management at this level.
  • Proven track record of stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team at this level.
Knowledge/ Other:
  • Understanding the cultural industry.
  • Passionate about growing communities in support of contemporary African art.
  • Knowledge on computer software including Microsoft Windows Office.
  • Good knowledge of database management and systems development.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fund Raising and Resource Development:
  • Support the Head of IA with fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
  • Implement an annual program of scheduled member, sponsor, patrons, philanthropist, and donor events and align with an overall marketing plan.
  • Network and build relationships to support the overall funding strategy.
  • Identify and cultivate new prospects; Patrons, Donors, Sponsors to create a pipeline and set up engagements.
  • Build on current relationships and keep these engaged.
  • Track engagements with Patrons, Trusts and Funds, Donors and Sponsors and their level of giving’s and interests.
  • Ensure regular engagements with the various funder types happens to maintain relationships.
  • Drive and cultivate the current database of members, taking a member from current membership status to further interests of the institutions and /or to become a Patron, or Philanthropic giving.
Corporate Membership Advancement:
  • Support the planning for corporate membership program together with the Head of IA.
  • Together with the Head of IA, develop Corporate Funding targets and goals.
  • Support the Head of IA to solicit and sign on new corporate members.
  • Steward relationship with potential corporate members, brands, and professionals including entertaining prospective members.
  • Develop marketing and communications plans around corporate members program.
  • Act as a specialiSed liaison between corporate member teams and the Company.
  • Review and ensure all corporate memberships database is up to date including expiry and renewals.
  • Keep in contact with corporate members to notify early expiry and renewals.
Members Relationship Management:
  • Drive the activities of the membership programme.
  • Review and ensure all memberships database is up to date including expiry and renewals.
  • Stay connected with members to notify early expiry and renewals.
  • Deliver on benefits including membership access and events.
  • Conceptualise and develop special projects, networking opportunities, additional gifts, engagements for corporate members to maintain members and attract new corporate members.
  • Ensure members' attendance at relevant events.
  • Stay connected with members to notify early expiry and renewals.
Members' Relationship Management:
  • Drive the activities of the membership program.
  • Review and ensure all memberships database is up to date including expiry and renewals.
  • Keep in contact with members to notify early expiry and renewals.
  • Deliver on benefits including membership access and events.
  • Conceptualise and develop special projects, networking opportunities, additional gifts, and engagements for corporate members to maintain members and attract new corporate members.
  • Ensure members' attendance at relevant events.

Membership Programme:
  • Lead planning for membership program together with the Head of IA.
  • Identify and cultivate new potential members and audiences.
  • Develop member event program and work with the Company’s events team to implement member events.
  • Support the Head of IA track annual member program budget.
  • Develop marketing and communications plan around members' program together with the communications and marketing team.
  • In collaboration with the communications team, lead the creation and promotion of membership initiatives, and collateral, and ensure delivery of membership communications across all platforms.
  • Generate member content for monthly member newsletters, proof, design, seek approvals and send.
  • Oversee the work of the membership team in planning and implementing an annual programme of scheduled member and donor events and align with the overall marketing plan.
  • Work with colleagues across the institution to identify and capitalise on opportunities to further engage current members of all levels and promote awareness of the membership schemes internally across departments as well as externally to the wider audiences.
Management Operations:
  • Oversee membership database with assistance from Institutional Advancement Coordinator.
  • Ensure all communications are going out according to ZM language with support from the communications team.
  • Develop newsletters for all funder types.
  • Lead planning and implementation of new membership software.
  • Coordinate member invoicing with assistance from IA Coordinator with relevant parties at the Company.
  • Draft together with the Head of IA the overall programme budget.
  • Lead and manage direct reports, ensuring career and skills development.
  • Drive performance management with the team to ensure they have clarity on what is expected of them.
  • Ensure all aspects of FOH and Admin and HR policies and procedures are adhered to including timesheets, overtime claims, sickness, and leave schedules.
  • Manage team's Uber usage and overtime.
  • Manage team's leave, and employee relations matters.
  • Hold one-on-one meetings for check-ins and feedback.
  • Recruit skilled employees aligned to the EE (Employment Equity) targets.
  • Compile and update required Job descriptions
