Assistant Cost Accountant

SUMMARY:
Our client, a Proudly South African company, part of a larger JSE listed manufacturer, seeks your cost and management experience to provide the business unit with comprehensive cost accounting service designed to acquire new business and retain existing business on a profitable basis.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Job Requirements:

• Grade 12.
• National Diploma in Cost & Management Accounting.
• Preferably studying towards CIMA.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

• Financial Management:
  • Provide guidance and input where necessary to the Plant and Finance Managers.
  • Review the accuracy of Plant bills of materials and standard margins and provide guidance on corrective actions.
  • Assist Cost & Management Accountant with month-end processes.
  • Stock in transit accounting.
• Management Reporting:
  • Steel price trend analysis and reporting.
  • Customer sales analysis.
  • Customer profitability.
  • RTM and product margin analysis.
  • Weekly stock on hold report and drive action.
  • Repairs and maintenance cost analysis.
• Bill of Materials:
  • Oversee costing system.
  • Monthly comparison of standard cost changes.
  • Verify accuracy of costings versus process documents.
  • Update raw material cost and item master information on Syspro.
  • Cost differential exercises.
  • Assist with the efficient functioning of works orders.
  • Assist Cost and Management Accountant with Material Usage analysis.
• Government Grants:
  • Prepare applications for qualifying government grants.
  • Attend to all queries from applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Attend to queries on APDP BOM masterfiles.
  • Track and finalise applicable grants to completion and collection of grants.
• Reporting
  • Analyse and interpret Finance reports and statistical data.
  • Prepare financial reports and returns as required.
  • Generate information and reports.
