Assistant Finance Manager

SUMMARY:
An international insurance and reinsurance brokering group is seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Finance Manager to support their Head of Finance with the monthly accounting and reporting functions across a portfolio of group entities, including insurance and reinsurance brokers, as well as investment holding companies.

POSITION INFO:
This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on, detail-oriented finance professional, with completed articles and at least 5 years' experience, who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The role offers exposure to multi-currency operations, complex group structures, and international financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day accounting for multiple group entities, ensuring accuracy of entries in Pastel
• Manage monthly bank reconciliations (multi-currency)
• Process online banking transactions (multi-currency)
• Month-end close and preparation of monthly management accounts
• Ensure compliance with FICA regulations
• Handle forex revaluations
• Manage underwriter payment processes, including Bordereaux reconciliations and broker engagement
• Collaborate with brokering and technology teams to ensure seamless system integration with financial records
• Assist with year-end audit processes and external audit liaison
• Prepare and submit statutory filings (income tax, VAT, etc.)
• Support budgeting, variance analysis, and ongoing financial monitoring
• Monitor aged debtors and assist with recovery processes
• Manage HR-related finance tasks, including payroll processing and tax compliance
• Present financial performance and cash flow forecasting to the Executive Team across group entities
• Contribute to process improvements and system change management

• Completed SAICA/SAIPA articles (Non-CA)
• Minimum of 5 years post-articles experience in a finance role
• Non-negotiable: Experience in insurance accounting/brokering and forex revaluations
• Strong understanding of monthly financial processes within a growing business
• Experience working in the insurance or financial services industry, preferably in a business with an international footprint
• Proficiency in accounting software (Pastel Partner essential); comfortable learning new systems
• Highly analytical, self-driven, and adaptable to change
• Excellent communication and reporting skills
