POSITION INFO:
We are seeking a qualified Automotive Machinist and Fitter at a Automotive company in Kimberley.
Duties:
- Prepare quotations on engines and related parts; handle all quotes and reports timeously.
- Conduct fault finding and compile failure reports; determine warranty-related jobs.
- Perform repairs as needed; measure and machine conrods (big ends/caps) and small ends.
- Line-bore engine blocks and cylinder heads where required.
- Liaise with the project manager on quote cards and job progress; provide customer updates when receiving parts.
- Ensure ISO-aligned Health & Safety procedures are followed; implement quality initiatives.
- Monitor workshop housekeeping, cleanliness, safety and equipment condition; prepare for maintenance.
- Train staff and assist apprentices; provide technical support to machinists as needed.
- Assign repairs fairly and check progress of each repair order throughout the day; achieve workshop targets.
Requirements:
- Automotive Machinist qualification (Red Seal) with ±5 years’ experience; Trade Test (Automotive Machinist & Fitter).
- Experience with re-sizing machines, line-boring machines, crankshaft grinders, re-borers, lathes, skimming machines; full engine rebuild experience advantageous.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capability; quality- and safety-focused.
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans (read/write/speak); professional communication and customer-service skills.
- Able to work independently and in a team; available for after-hours work; comfortable under pressure.
