JOB SUMMARY:
Purpose of the Role:
Places purchase orders with approved vendors, or sources new vendors if necessary, for materials, machinery, equipment, tools, parts, and a full spectrum of other supplies or services at assigned site.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree.
Three (3) years of purchasing experience.
Knowledge of sources of supply, markets and price trends, and the various grades and qualities of a wide variety of materials, supplies, and equipment.
Knowledge of purchasing rules, regulations, methods, forms purchase orders and accounts payable processes.
Experience with a variety of computer software, including word processing, database and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to research and gather information related to vendors, contracts, equipment and supplies.
Ability to negotiate and administer contracts.
Ability to use computer databases to research, maintain and update records and files.
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Demonstrated experience with SAP software.

Responsibilities

Under nominal supervision, places purchase orders with approved vendors, or sources new vendors if necessary, for materials, machinery, equipment, tools, parts, and a full spectrum of other supplies or services at assigned site.
Receives and reviews a wide variety of requisitions.
May support one or more specialized areas requiring an increased depth of knowledge.
Interviews vendors to obtain information concerning product/service, price, availability, and delivery date.
Estimates value according to knowledge of market price.
Reviews bid proposals from vendors and recommends or enters into contracts within limits of delegated authority.
Maintains records of purchased items, cost, delivery, performance and inventory, and approves bills for payments within limits of delegated authority.
Discusses defects with quality control/inspection personnel to determine source of defect and initiates corrective action.
Performs other duties as required.
