Control Room Manager

SUMMARY:
An Internal Vacancy exists for a Duty Manager in the Critical Infrastructure Division at the National Operations Centre based in Centurion  
 
The suitable candidate’s main responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:  

POSITION INFO:

• Monitor and oversee all security technology systems in the NOC, receive responses as prescribed;
• Accept and manager all risk situations as detected, identified and reported by the work station operators;
• Ensure all instructions, assignments, tasks, requests and responsibilities assigned by the client is given first priority and completed on or before the due dates;
• Ensure all NOC workstation staff adhere to policies and procedures;
• Do regular workstation job description tests with the NOC personnel to ensure they are familiar with their respective post descriptions and re-train where applicable;
• Conduct on-site training with the NOC workstation staff on new procedures and systems;
• Research new methods of control room operating procedures to improve current operations;
• Assist client in opening of criminal cases in the event of incidents and possible investigation if required;
• Ensure handing and taking over is performed and documented at each shift change;
• Ensure there is no unauthorized entry into the NOC;
• All matters reported into the NOC should be treated as an incident and all detail captured and an appropriate response rendered to ensure a clear audit trail of the sequence of events and actions;
• In cases of emergencies the duty manager must delegate resources as required;
• Must be able to manage and ensure there is a full complement manning each shift;
• Incidents, exceptions and crisis management;
• Manage operator performance and outputs i.e. CCTV camera and intruder alarm system monitoring;
• Monitor alarm systems, escalate positive alarms, capture detail of all responses to all alarms on the appropriate software platforms;
• Data capture and complete daily CCTV and alarm reports;
• Communicate via two-way radio and telephone;
• Conduct health checks for technical systems;
• All verbal and written reports including data capture must be of a high standard/quality and in English;

• PSIRA certification Grade A;
• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification;
• Relevant experience in a multi-functional control room environment;
• Relevant experience in a Managerial or similar position is essential;
• Systems knowledge and experience on Signal Tower;
• MS Office and Lync, Google earth and Windows based applications;
• Good communication, tact, diplomacy, assertiveness and relationship building;
• Must be flexible, honest, have integrity, drive, energy, creativity, initiative, independence and be able to work under pressure;
• Good legal understanding as per the Criminal Procedure Act and have general knowledge of common statutory law, constitution and bill of rights and court litigation;
• Investigative and administrative knowledge;
• Must have basic electronic knowledge;
• Clean disciplinary, criminal and credit record;
• Own transport and driver’s license;
