POSITION INFO:

Overview: 

  • The position is aligned to Faculty’s mandate to provide an educational experience that is unique, relevant to industry, and allows students the opportunity to develop their skills in the 4IR.
  • The core focus of the role is to provide teaching and learning using a range of innovative teaching and learning methods and systems, inclusive of the Institutional LMS, to drive student engagement and throughput.

 

Minimum requirements: 

  • Minimum 3-year degree in the discipline associated with the role.
  • An Honours degree or a postgraduate teaching qualification will be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in lecturing or facilitation, preferably online at an educational institution.
  • Preparation of additional learning content.
  • Working knowledge of video technologies and application software.
  • Working knowledge of Moodle LMS.

 

Responsibilities:

Teaching and Learning

  • Prepare and execute high-level teaching and learning plan, as well as lesson plans, that align with the course curriculum for each cohort in a course.
  • Utilise the Institutional LMS (iCAN) to communicate lesson plans and assessment deadlines.
  • Create quality and brand aligned content to support students learning i.e. video lessons, podcasts, tutorials, etc, which are aligned to the high-level teaching and learning plan, as well as lesson plans.
  • Facilitate and manage discussion forums, as well as student queries, on the LMS.
  • Plan, execute, report, and monitor campaigns focused on increasing student participation, submission rates, online submission of assignments, and throughput rates.
  • Collaborate with the Course Coordinator to identify and support students at-risk.
  • Prepare, mark and moderate assessments in line with the Institutional Assessment and Moderation Policies.
  • Provide constructive and reinforcing student feedback on assessments.

 

Academic Management and Administration

  • Contribute to accurate storage of the latest version of curricula, assessments, iCAN assets, and course content.
  • Regularly update Course Layout Forms with newly created iCAN assets.
  • Ensure assets are stored per the Institutional Policy related to Intellectual Property.
  • Complete Monthly Activity Report.
  • Administer, analyse and report on surveys.

 

Research and Community Engagement

  • Actively participate in the expansion of the short course suite of offerings.
  • Actively participate in workshops, knowledge sharing sessions, meetings, and other institutional forums.
  • Create community content in line with the area of expertise or subject matter knowledge for distribution to the Institutional community.
  • Build positive relationships with other internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute positively towards the Institutional vision, mission, and goals.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of community engagement initiatives.
