Our client a proudly South African Company, specializes in the manufacture and distribution of heavy duty truck Bullbars, truck accessories and Lite commercial vehicle retractable covers and styling bars. Range of Truck Accessories encompass most of the popular truck brands in South Africa.

Purpose of the Role:

New product development to meet customer specifications and comply with both internal and external systems requirements within the agreed upon timeline. To ensure handovers of products, processes and documentation to production are conducted adequately communicating all critical characteristics and quality information appropriately. Support of production engineering for maximization of efficiency and process uptime.

Qualification:

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical engineering
• 5 years relevant work experience
• Knowledge and experience with IATF core tools

• Competent in using Microsoft Office programs
• Competent in using 3D CAD modeling software
• Basic manufacturing process knowledge & experience,
• CNC Tube & Plate bending, Laser cutting, robotics (welding, plasma cutting, polishing).
• Basic skills in Project Management is a requirement

• Development of new products, inclusive of, but not limited to; automotive styling accessories.
• Consultation with both internal and external customers.
• Ensuring all design and process requirements are met, with key design considerations being part quality, cost of manufacture and production efficiency.
• Continuous improvement of products and processes, inclusive of, but not limited to, design changes, quality improvements and process improvements.
• Generation of supporting documentation, inclusive of, but not limited to, customer & manufacturing drawings, process work instructions, product fitment instructions and promotional materials.

• Manufacturing-process design to industrialize products using either available facilities/capacity or most efficient alternatives.
• Jig/fixture/tooling design to support industrialization of both new and current products, in collaboration with production.
• Management of jig/tooling/fixture manufacture and active involvement in the handover and introduction into production with product engineering.
• Generation of process work instructions for existing and newly developed processes or equipment.
• Validation of process by measuring off tool product accuracy to design specification.
• Project Management:
• Leadership and management of project progress from product design inception to process handover.
• Problem Investigation:
• Participation in root cause analysis of product design and process problems.
• Implementation of effective countermeasures to prevent flow out and occurrence.
