JOB SUMMARY:
Are you an accomplished “unique” Dress Designer looking for an opportunity to work in Melbourne, Australia working for a Global brand?
 
This role will require you to build strong, clear and cohesive ranges in line with the Company’s positioning and philosophy thereby bringing newness to the ranges, seasonally, covering both the northern and southern hemisphere collections and ranges.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Fashion Design
  • 5+ years in a similar role within womenswear apparel
  • Significant leadership experience
  • Excellent knowledge of all fabrications and product categories
  • Experience working within international markets, focusing on both hemispheres
  • Familiarity in dealing within a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Strong technical knowledge and garment construction skills
  • Extensive fabric and raw material knowledge
  • Demonstrate a high understanding of all critical path elements and their impact on sales
  • Computer literacy in Computer literacy in InDesign, Illustrator, CAD and PowerPoint
  • Computer literacy in desktop products, including Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word)


DUTIES

  • Ensure styles are designed/developed and executed in line with the trend/design brief
  • Support buying team and drive design to source stock fabric
  • Supporting delivery and implementation of the critical path and operating plans
  • Ensure product ranges are innovative and in line with the brand vision & direction
  • Designing the right product at the right time to meet customer requirements
  • Identifying and delivering detailed style direction to develop existing & new products
  • Briefing buyers on key products/materials/fabrics
  • Providing input to the product strategy, marketing plan and range development
  • Develop & maintain an in-depth understanding of the competitors
  • Present concept boards and colour palettes with key silhouettes
  • Collaborating with Buying team ensuring bestselling styles are updated and moved on
  • Understand the Company’s brand positioning
  • Understand customer demographics and present innovative product ideas
  • Analyse effectiveness and efficiency of Design activities against relevant benchmarks
  • Utilise weekly trade reports and forward projections to trade the department
  • Range achieves sales and profit KPI’s each season
  • Ensure range delivers innovation, flexibility, quality, speed and is within pricing strategy
  • Generation of new ideas to improve sales and profitability
  • Build a balanced range reflective of market mindset and department
  • Build effective relationships with the team, suppliers, and key stakeholders
  • Manage department KPI performance & contribute to a cohesive team environment
  • Maximise team performance to drive efficiency and profitability
  • Comply with the Company’s Workplace Health and Safety
