Our client, an electrical and automation engineering company, based in the Northern Suburbs is looking for an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician to join their team.

REQUIREMENTS
- Instrumentation and Electrical Qualification â could be red seal only
- Electrical and Instrumentation Technician â 3-5 years
- Fibre Optic Splicing - 2 yrs experience
- EC&I industry knowledge / experience
- Basic Project Management skills (advantageous)
RESPONSIBILITIES- Managing projects, liaising with clients, vendors, contractors, suppliers for quotes, procurement, ordering and collecting of spares, onsite job completion.
- Calibrating, installation, maintenance, commission, fault finding and addressing day to day technical issues on a variety of field instrumentation and lab instrumentation equipment namely flow, pressure, differential pressure transmitters, differential.Â
- Pressure (flow meters), temperature, level (Radar, Ultrasonic, pressure, DP cell), wireless, radio, valves.Â
- Servicing ABB breakers from 1600A to 5000A, Drives, soft starters, HV switchgear, change-over switches, Allen Bradley Smart relays, Allen Bradley smart overloads, single and 3 phase generators, motors, plugs, dosing pumps (Grundfos & Sera), submersible pumps, Lights, switches, joints.
- Planned and unplanned electrical maintenance.
- Commissioning and upgrades of multiple plants namely, FMCG, alcohol, juice, solar farms, data centres, quarries, Tiger brands, dairy and Wastewater treatment works.
- Programming of Siemens S700 PLCâs using TIA Portal, IFM PLCâs, Deep Sea controllers, HMIâs.Â
- Testing equipment used namely Megger, multimeter, Fluke Data loggers, milliamp source, Fibre optics splicing machine, OTDR, VFL, Light, source, 4-20mA source / tester, fluke thermowell Solar (Sunsynk, Huawei).Â
- Programming of Deep-Sea controllers, HMIâs, PLCâs.Â
- Minor programming with TIA.Â
- Profibus, profinet, ethernet, ASI interface, IO Link.Â
- Commission, troubleshoot and calibrate control and instrumentations systems.Â
- Use software to download programmes and to perform IO testing.Â
- Perform loop and alarm testing.Â
- Use electrical systems for fault finding to find a resolution.Â
- Perform safety system testing in line with FAT testing.
- Complete all relevant documentation of testing and commissioning records.Â
- Support and perform witnessed testing for clients/third parties.Â
- Feedback issues or opportunities in order to facilitate continuous improvement.Â
- Record test results and failure accurately, identifying faults and correct as required.Â
- Ensure faults are to be logged and recorded. All changes will need to be tracked and auditable.Â
- Feedback concerns and failures to the relevant teams.Â
- Follow all quality control plans with an excellent level of understanding throughout.Â
- Use and work with logic flow diagrams, P & ID and any other information required.Â
- Communicate when required with key stakeholders as well as any other departments.Â
- Prioritise workloads dependent on project and business needs.Â
- Visit sites when required to complete testing and fault finding.
- Champion all things relating to Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery. This will include process improvements and the elimination of waste/inefficiencies.Â
