SUMMARY:
We're working with a cutting-edge defence and aerospace technology partner, based in Pretoria, that is looking to grow its embedded development team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Embedded Software Engineer with a passion for real-time systems, hardware integration, and complex development environments.

POSITION INFO:
You’ll join a team developing mission-critical embedded software for advanced electronic systems used in high-performance defence applications. The work involves front-panel software development on embedded platforms, including ARM-based microcontrollers, in a structured and high-assurance environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain embedded software for electronic defence systems
Work with AT91SAM ARM processors and real-time Linux-based systems
Develop in C using the GNU toolchain within Eclipse
Collaborate closely with Hardware, Systems, and Test Engineers
Participate in code reviews, system integration, and verification

Skills & Experience Required:

BEng/BSc in Electronic/Computer Engineering or equivalent
3–7 years of experience in embedded software development
Proficiency in C and experience with ARM microcontrollers
Familiarity with Linux OS, real-time systems, and low-level hardware integration
Experience using development tools such as Eclipse and GNU toolchain
Strong problem-solving mindset and an eye for detail
Advantageous: Defence or high-assurance environment experience
