Employee Relations Manager

Summary: Reporting to the Resort Human Resource Manager, the job incumbent will be responsible to manage and implement all processes and strategies related to the development, maintenance and monitoring of effective Employee Relations within the specific unit.

 

 

Job Description

 

Education, experience and competencies required:
• Matric/ Grade 12
• Degree/Diploma in labour law/Industrial relations
• At least 10 years’ experience in an employee relations environment
• Experience in a hotel and gaming environment would be advantageous
• Assertiveness and empathy
• Fairness and listening skills
• Conflict handling skills
• Numerical skills
• Report writing and decision making skills
• Presentation and observation skills


Key performance areas:
• Ensure the implementation of ER strategies reflect current trends
• Ensure advise to management is aligned with current ER environment i.e. legislation , case law, policies and procedures and best practice
• Ensure that communication of policies and procedures is received by all stakeholders in time
• Good relations with the Trade Union are maintained at all times
• Financial compliance to company’s accounting practices, policies and procedures
• Cost variances can be reconciled to circumstances
• Training achieves the ER strategy and objectives
• Audits meet best practice standards
• Reports are accurate, on time and provide the relevant information
• Representing the company at CCMA/Labour Court processes
• Ensure Unit is always ready to address industrial action
• Contingency plans address the specific requirements of the Unit and the type of Industrial action
• Collective Bargaining meets business requirements
• Application of discipline is fair and consistent as per SI group guidelines
• Recruitment and selection requirements are met
• Training planned and implemented to meet current and future company requirements
• ER documentation meets the requirements of SOPs and Labour legislation e.g. counseling forms, hearing documents, etc.
• Performance agreements and reviews are conducted as per HR policy
• Succession plans /PDP ‘s as per HR guidelines and performance gaps are addressed
