Financial Manager

Job Type: Half Day

Pay: R30 000,00 per month depending on experience

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Financial Manager to lead our finance team. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional with at least 3 years of accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and expertise in accounting software such as Quickbooks Online. As part of our IT business, you will play an important role in heading up the finance department and maintaining accurate financial records, providing accounting & tax advisory and supporting the company’s financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Records

• Full accounts function up to Trial Balance and Financial Statements compilation.
• Accounting Advisory to management.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles.
• Process and reconcile bank transactions, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including invoicing, expense tracking, and payments.
• Ensure all financial transactions are properly documented and categorized.

Month-End and Year-End Processes

• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts where requested.
• Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Liaise with the external accounting officer regarding annual financial statements.

Payroll, VAT & Tax Compliance

• Provide strategic Tax Advisory.
• Process payroll and ensure accurate recording of salaries, benefits, and deductions.
• Submit PAYE Returns including EMP201’s & EMP501’s as well as IRP5 preparations.
• Prepare and submit bi-monthly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with SARS regulations.
• Maintain compliance with tax requirements and submit Income Tax & Provisional Tax Returns.

• Director Remuneration and Loan Account management.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Generate financial reports to provide insights into business performance including cashflow analysis.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes by maintaining financial data accuracy.

Stock & Fixed Assets

• Assist with Stock management and ensure stock procedures are followed
• Maintain the Fixed Asset Register.

Software & Process Management

• Utilize Quickbooks Online and other relevant tools to streamline financial processes.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement in financial operations.
• Ensure best practices are followed in financial record-keeping and reporting.

Statutory & Administrative

• Ensure compliance with company BEE status
• Assemble and update employment contracts from templates
• Update customer contract schedules, keep a renewal register
• Ensure all contracts have valid signed agreements
• Document Management

Ad-hoc Duties:

• Training of assistant staff in junior accounting functions regarding purchase orders, stock management and invoicing

Person Specification:

We are looking for a candidate who is:

• Experienced: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting, with knowledge of Payroll, VAT and Tax.
• Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Quickbooks Online is important.
• Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple financial tasks accurately.
• Organized & Reliable: Able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Proactive & Self-Motivated: A problem-solver who takes initiative and enjoys improving processes.

• Leader & Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and manage a junior financial assistant.

Education:

• Accounting Degree or Diploma (Required)

Experience:

• SAIPA / SAICA Articles.
• Post Article Experience beneficial.
• Recently Qualified CA – seeking half day role
