JOB SUMMARY:
A fast-growing Mining Company is currently looking to employ a Financial Accountant with mining exposure. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day financial transactions. B Comm Degree compulsory – Honours degree advantageous. Must have completed articles and at least five years’ experience in a similar position. Experience in Sage Evolution will be an advantage

JOB DESCRIPTION:

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Full control of fixed asset register and monthly amortization
Prepare documents and attend monthly or bi-weekly capital meetings
Monthly vat reconciliations and submissions of returns to SARS
Monthly EMP201 submission to SARS
Monthly salary reconciliations
Project capital commitments and reconciliations
Accounting to trial balance – full function
Control short term insurance and Momentum claims
Prepare various monthly GL recons
Analysis, allocation of costs and clearing of provision accounts
Manage the tender process for the sale of assets
Petty cash management
Prepare monthly/quarterly returns
Complete the finance portion of the monthly BEE report
Daily checking and control of all payments
Collate and check all GL-, bank, debtors- and creditors reconciliations monthly
Responsible for all GL account- and accounting structure admin & maintenance
Control of any major capital projects
Oversee and control financial month-end process
Supervise other finance staff
Any ad hoc tasks requested by the Financial Controller
