KEY NON-NEGOTIABLE COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

  • The successful incumbent will bring a strong strategic, finance skill set evidenced by the ability to analyze business models and forecast financing needs with strong administrative experience
  • Experience in Funds administration will be an advantage
  • Strongly people orientated
  • Strong sense of Accountability

  • Solidly grounded technical experience
  • Ability to manage the performance of direct reports.

KEY COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

  • CA(SA), CIMA is preferred or
  • Post graduate financial qualification i.e. B Com Accounting with Financial management
  • 10 years relevant Finance management experience with 5 years in Senior/ Executive management
  • Registration with a recognized professional body required
  • Strong business acumen, meticulous, multi-tasked and with a passion for Finance
  • Listening to others and communicating articulately, fostering open communication.
  • Adapting in order to work effectively in ambiguous or changing situations, and with diverse individuals and groups
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and managing teams,
  • Team player
  • Providing service excellence to internal and external clients.
  • Developing, implementing, evaluating and adjusting plans to reach goals, while ensuring the optimal use of resources.
  • Understanding and applying Human Resource Management practices, policies and principles in the dept.
  • Demonstrating and supporting the organization''''s ethics and values.
  • Knowledge about principles of system design and implementation.
  • Computer literacy – MS Office
  • Sage X3 financial system with be an advantage

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, seek approval, implement, track, report on the overall finance strategy for the organization
  • Day to day management of the Finance department as per applicable accounting standards and audit requirements
  • Oversee all financial efficiencies to ensure sound financial management
  • Management of staff (approximately 13 staff members)
  • Full financial function, including producing, reviewing, monitoring and managing financial reports, budgets, Accounts Payable, Account Receivable, Expenses, GL, Fixed Assets, Banking and Cash Management, Reporting, Payroll Administration, including approval of payments etc.
  • Reporting to management and stakeholders, and providing advice on how the organisation and future business decisions might be impacted by decisions
  • Developing long-term business plans aligned to the organisational strategy
  • Developing and implementing strategies that work to minimise financial risk
  • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and company/overhead cost allocation
  • Management of Insurance portfolio
  • Management of Investments and input into investment decisions
  • Implementation and monitoring of internal controls, improvements and ensuring adequate and effective financial controls
  • Financial Risk identification and management
  • Liaise with Internal and External Audit functions
  • Liaise with Divisional Heads and Regional Manager on financial issues and queries
  • Present financial information to various forums as required
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis needed for the CEO and other related key stakeholders including the Audit and Risk Management Committee, the Council, the Governing Board, the Remuneration Committee, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, including tax Strategy/Executive Leadership
  • Regularly assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and company’s long-term strategy for growth
  • Lead Financial reporting to various Boards and subcommittees, including variance analysis
  • Reviewing financial results, processes and procedures, policies and develop strategic objectives and planning pertaining to areas of responsibility
  • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and make actionable recommendations on strategy
  • Assist in establishing company objectives
  • Willing to guide and support GM.
  • Lead long-term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with company’s strategic plan
  • Optimization of company capital structure
  • Lead the development and use of best-practice policies, practices, and tools that ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization with strong fiscal management, project management, cross team communications and workflow
  • Comply with financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing compliance, and taking action.
