General Manager : Finance

Our prominent and leading client in the Retail Industry is currently looking to employ a General Manager : Finance to their Head Office team based in JHB (Ormonde).  This is a senior management role requiring 10 year ‘s minimum working experience (post articles) managing staff and relevant experience in managing multiple units.

Requirements:

• BCom accounting (Or similar accounting qualification) with Articles.
• CA Qualification with Managerial experience.
• 10 - 15 year ‘s minimum working experience (post articles)
• 5 – 10 year managing staff and relevant experience in Managing multiple units
• Will be required to travel to stores on a cycle basis and when the need arises.
• Will be required to attend all stock takes on weekends (3 – 4 times a year)
• 5 Day Position (Monday to Friday) Store Trading Hours.
• Computer Packages, Pastel, Excel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Purpose of the Role:

• The purpose of the role is to ensure that the Store Financial Departments Operate in alignment with the Business Objectives and action accordingly all Administrative and Financial transactions in line with the set protocol. To establish and maintain financial and management procedures Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Planning and development:

• Take responsibility for management and delivery of the business plan.
• Assess options for coordinating the activities, procedures, and systems to promote common policies and practices.
• Advise the on financial, managerial, staffing and service delivery issues.
• Report on progress against agreed objectives.
• Advise on compliance with all relevant legislation, e.g., Company law, Health & Safety, employment etc.

Service delivery

• Identify development opportunities consistent with the aims of the company and the operating environment.
• Maintain an awareness of organizational and technological developments and ensure that the service operates in ways which make best possible use of the resources available.

Financial management

• Maintain day-to-day financial control of the service within budget.
• Ensure that all finances are properly administered and monitored.
• Advise on the proper allocation of resources.
• Ensure that appropriate financial regulations and controls are always in place and in use.
• Prepare and review detailed budgets for approval.
• Ensure that all financial reporting obligations are met in relation to contracts and any other initiatives.
• Monitoring and interpreting cash flows and predicting future trends.
• Formulating strategic and long-term business plans.
• Researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance.
• Developing financial management mechanisms that minimize financial risk.
• Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
• Managing a company's financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems.
• Liaising with auditors to ensure annual monitoring is carried out.
• Developing external relationships with appropriate contacts e.g., auditors, solicitors, bankers, and statutory organizations
• Producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines.
• keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation.

Staff management

• Overview of Policies and Procedures, Employment, Agreements.

Training and development

• Identify and implement plans for staff and own training and development needs.

Other 

• Will be required to travel to stores on a cycle basis and when the need arises
• Will be required to attend all stock takes on weekends (3 – 4 times a year)
• 5 Day Position (Monday to Friday) Store Trading Hours.
