General Manager (meat industry)

SUMMARY:
Seeking a General Manager for a feedlot, slaughterhouse and deboning facility in Chad.
You will process approximately 400 cattle per day.
Previous experience in such an operation in Africa is essential.
The General Manager (Ruminant Integrated Operations) oversees all aspects of animal feedlot and meat processing operations, ensuring food safety, quality control, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
The role involves managing staff, production schedules, and facility maintenance.

POSITION INFO:
Responsibilities:
To oversee feed lot and slaughterhouse processing and export operations to ensure adherence to food safety and animal welfare standards while managing day to day quality.
Lead production staff, including training, performance management, and scheduling.
Ensure compliance with HACCP, ISO, Halal and other regulatory frameworks and best practices. Coordinate with the supply chain and logistics to meet demand and delivery schedules.
Oversee the maintenance of equipment and ensure operational uptime.
Monitor and manage quality control procedures for carcass grading, sanitation, and traceability. Regular reports of production and efficiency metrics to senior management.
To achieve the approved operational and strategic plan. To oversee the support service of activities.

Requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in animal production and processing with a minimum of 5 years in managerial position.
In-depth knowledge of meat processing, quality control, and regulatory standards.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
