SCOPE & GENERAL PURPOSE 

The main purpose of the Guest Relations Manager is to ensure that all Front Office team members work seamlessly with each other and all hotel and head office departments to ensure that La Residence exceeds our guests' expectations. The Guest Relations Manager plays an integral role in ensuring that the hotel lives up to the purpose of the company, which is "To give our guests a complete experience and a perfect stay".

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• To build and maintain a strong culture and team environment in the Front Office
• Managing the Front Office by being an effective, efficient and motivational manager.
• Must be able to build relationships with all guests
• Deal with any guest queries and arrange assistance as necessary
• Maintain communication across the Hotel to ensure all departments and security are aware of guest movements
• Ensure day sheets are accurate and available at all times for all departments and head office
• Ensure curio stock levels are maintained, and place orders as necessary
• Assess efficient department Standard Operating Procedures and amend if necessary
• Constant monitoring of Opera (Property Management System) and guest profiling - ensure team are updating required information and capturing all preferences
• Management duties, including rostering staff, leave administration, warnings and disciplinaries, recruitment and selection, training, etc .
  
  

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management (Required)
• 5 years’ experience in a luxury 5* establishment (Required)
• 3 years’ Front Office Experience (Required)
• Systems - Micros (POS), Opera (PMS), Microsoft Office
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills
• Must live locally and be familiar with other hotels, restaurants, wine farms, venues and activities in and around Franschhoek
• Must be flexible with the ability to work nights, weekends, and public holidays
• Proven job reliability, diligence, dedication and attention to detail
• Ability to work accurately under pressure
• Ability to take initiative and make judgement calls regarding any complaints (considering budget for gifting / room drops / vouchers)
• Be able to delegate and ensure timeous execution of all Front Office duties

South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document.
