Junior Accountant

POSITION INFO:
My client is looking for a Junior Accountant to join their team and support the day-to-day financial operations at site level. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with the Junior Finance Manager and contribute to critical governance, reporting, and compliance functions.

This role is based in Paarl, Western Cape.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with governance and financial compliance, ensuring alignment with Group policies and procedures.
• Review trial balances to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• Perform regular reconciliations and resolve transaction queries efficiently.
• Manage creditor functions: raise purchase orders, process invoices, and handle related queries.
• Maintain and reconcile the cashbook and ensure all entries are accurately recorded across ledgers.
• Prepare monthly journals, accruals, and adjustment entries.
• Manage the fixed asset register, including depreciation calculations.
• Support debtor management through invoicing, payment allocations, follow-ups, and sales reporting.
• Create bank payments and ensure timely settlements.
• Contribute to internal audits and ensure readiness for annual audits with supporting schedules and documentation.
• Develop and implement internal control processes to strengthen financial practices.
• Assist in working capital management and clearing financial inputs.
• Ensure the smooth running of the administrative finance function on site.

Requirements:

• Relevant qualification in Accounting or Finance.
• 1–2 years of experience in a similar role (advantageous).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and controls.
• Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software.
