Legal Credit Controller

My client, a household name in the wholesale and retail industry, is looking for a sharp, assertive Legal Credit Controller to join their high-performing team at their Head Office in Johannesburg South.

POSITION INFO:
Reporting to the Legal Manager, you’ll thrive in this role if you love working with the law in action, enjoy being at the heart of credit management, and have a knack for resolving complex cases with professionalism and precision.

What You'll Be Doing (Your Current Load):

• Acting as the central fuse between stores and head office on all legal credit control matters
• Managing legal account handovers and being the go-to contact for all escalations
• Working closely with Regional Credit Controllers (indirectly reporting into you) to keep accounts on track and shock-free
• Handling the full legal collection process, including liaising with Attorneys
• Dealing with CGIC on insured debtors and claims
• Monitoring payment plans and ensuring that overdue accounts don’t short-circuit the bottom line
• Keeping accurate records, correspondence, and documentation – legally and financially spark-proof

• A BCom Law, LLB, or BCom in Accounting / Finance
• At least 2 years’ experience in a legal credit control / debt collection role
• Strong knowledge of credit risk, CGIC processes, and legal handover procedures
• A natural authority: Even without direct reports, you can conduct the current and keep everyone aligned
• A young, ambitious attitude with a hunger to make your mark in a high-voltage, fast-paced environment
