Maintenance Electrician

Our Client, a National blue-chip Group Leader in the FMCG industry, is seeking to URGENTLY appoint a dynamic Maintenance Artisan Electrician to be based in the Electrical Section of their Scottsburg Kwa-Zulu Natal Mill (R’s NEG)

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

• Report to the Maintenance Foreman – Electrical.
• To carry out the general maintenance work and attend to technical breakdowns by following fault finding diagnoses.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Carry out switching of the H.T. distribution system
• Carry out construction and cable jointing
• Maintain and fault finds on VSD’S and Soft Starters.
• Carry out planned maintenance schedules in accordance with Maximo planning system.
• Write out works orders for any unplanned work required
• Write out stores requisition for material and fittings required
• Carry out all statutory electrical work in the plant as required by OHS Act
• Supervise the Artisan Hand, Maintenance Operator or Maintenance Electrician Apprentice that work under his supervision.

KEY COMPETENCY REQUIREMENT:

• Minimum Matric with Maths and Science plus N3 or equivalent
• Must have served a recognized apprenticeship and have passed the relevant trade test (qualified Electrician) ESSENTIAL
• Minimum 5 years post apprenticeship experience in a heavy engineering environment.
• Good communication skills
• Must be in possession of a valid wireman’s license to SABS 0142 Code of Practice or working towards one. Master Installation Electrician licence will be an added advantage.
• Be familiar with Power Generation systems, equipment and protection relays
• Must have in-depth knowledge of AC and DC. drives, concept of programmable logic controllers and their application, principles of power generation and associated protective equipment, DOL-, Slipring-, autotransformer and star delta starters and be familiar with all types of AC & DC Motors.
• Trouble shooting skills and ability to carry out repairs and scheduled maintenance of the Factory Electrical equipment including MV and LV Transformers and Switchgear.
• Must be willing to work overtime and standby duties and respond to call outs as per given time period.
• Must be able to provide own transportation to attend to call outs.
• Must be prepared to work to specified standards.
• Must not be colour blind.
• Must be positive, proactive and take initiative to improve the Mills Electrical plant.
