Purpose of Function
The Segment Manager for Mining & Product Manager for Engineering Solutions:
is responsible for the local rollout of the Mining Segment and Engineering Solutions portfolio and the professional in-depth application support of Sales & Service.
is responsible for Net Sales and Global Gross Profit (GGP) of the assigned Engineering Solutions and Self Rescuer portfolio in South Africa.
Contribute to the growth of the complete Mining Segment Portfolio in SA
Tasks and Responsibilities
Develop and implement local marketing mix strategy for the relevant Segments in accordance with Regional and Local strategy:
Responsible for internal training on new products and services, update existing products
Derive a local marketing strategy for the product application in alignment with the local communications & sales strategy.
Design the product positioning for the key markets in the country, including stakeholder management approach (considering global concepts) for the market segment, and drive implementation on all levels to support the business plan of the country.
Drive business and competitive intelligence with regards to the area of responsibility for the country within the global guidelines and process for business and competitive intelligence.
Country representative for international meetings
Update market, competitors’ information and local customer ideas
Communicates new developments internally (product and market)
Initiate, conduct and evaluate marketing activities
Provides sales support (i.e. product presentation, demo activity, local adaption/creation of selling tools, etc)
Development of strategies based on global strategy and business plan at marketing level and agreement with the business manager
Co-management and handling of opinion leaders
Coordinates local approval with regulatory affairs.
Manages and prioritizes the Demo activity in general, demo units ordering inclusive, and generate reports based on demo feedback
Analyse sales funnel with reference to modality, discuss with Sales Manager specific actions to improve sales and identify root-causes in cases of underperformance
Product positioning with sales force
Monitoring sales force regularly on strategy implementation
Budget responsibility for demo-devices and demo costs
Actively support Sales & Service to drive local Net Sales and Global Gross Profit (GGP) of the Relevant Portfolios
Support Sales & Service regarding Product aspects
Define local counteractions to mitigate business risks
Identify and drive local marketing mix measures to ensure performance according to plan. Set priorities for action; implement and follow up on actions taken
Drive exploitation of full potential within the market segment across all relevant applications in cooperation with local sales
Support field corrective actions.
Assist with tenders relevant topics and specifications
Provide input for the Global Strategy:
Ensure aligned & consolidated local input in the global Segment Mining and Engineering Solutions in collaboration with the relevant Regional Marketing Managers
Actively support the Country Marketing Manager in defining new products and corresponding service solutions as well as phase out of products in close cooperation with Sales, Service and Operations
Define requirements for and participate in customer perception research activities.
Play an active role in the Market Segment Teams and Participate in Global Product and Solution Committee
Identifying relevant market trends and new business opportunities for future growth
Operational Marketing and Sales & Service support for Segment Mining & Engineering Solutions portfolios:
Actively manage the local Launch in close cooperation with the other Marketing functions, Sales & Service and Operations locally as well as the C& SM Manager in the development and execution of the local marketing plans.
Responsible for your allocated portfolio management
Provide application and technical product support to the local Sales and Service organizations
Design and execution of regular sales application trainings
Ensure compliance with the Principles of Business and Code of Conduct in the Dräger Group as well as local laws and regulations
Ensure compliance with occupational safety and health laws and other applicable regulations
Communications and Brand
Support Brand recognition at the country level
Arrange hand-over of devices / solutions and application training (optional, dependent on regulatory requirements)
Regulatory Affairs and Quality
Ensure compliance with corporate quality and environmental policies
Prepare, implement and monitor effective processes that provide the evidence of compliance with relevant directives, standards, technical, legal, industry or trade requirements
Ensure the effective day to day quality management of processes within, business, regulatory, testing, customer relations, service and logistic departments
University degree in engineering (mechanical engineering/ electrical engineering; pneumatics/ mechanics/electrical), economics or Business Management; (not essential)
Tertiary qualification in Marketing Management
Minimum of 3 years work experience in Product Management in a similar environment
Engineering experience advantageous.
Experience in the field of breathing gas supply solutions, sheltering solutions, breathing gas storage and supply systems and their auxiliary systems
Knowledge of large projects and their life cycle.
