SUMMARY:
A reputable FMCG Company that has made a positive impact in SA is looking to employ a Trade Tested Millwright, the primary responsibility is to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery used in their food manufacturing plants. You’re responsible for ensuring equipment operates efficiently and safely, across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems—often working with conveyors, mixers, refrigeration, PLC systems, SCADA, and other line machinery.

Key Responsibilities

Troubleshooting & Repairs
Diagnose and fix equipment failures using mechanical drawings, wiring schematics, P&IDs, manuals, VFDs, SCRs, PLCs, and drives
Preventive Maintenance
Perform regular PM inspections and maintenance, and manage work orders via CMMS systems .
Installation & Alignment
Install new equipment, perform precision alignment, rigging and levelling, and carry out minor fabrication, welding, machining or part modifications
Systems Integration
Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems; interface with SCADA and PLC platforms (e.g. Allen-Bradley SLC500, ControlLogix); and support ammonia refrigeration, boiler, and compressor systems
Training & Collaboration
Mentor colleagues; train associates in troubleshooting and maintenance; contribute to continuous improvement teams and support production operators
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure maintenance aligns with GMP, food safety standards, and plant safety regulations. Maintain accurate paperwork and records for performed tasks

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Background
1–5 years in maintenance, preferably in food manufacturing or industrial environments, with knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems
Mechanical Skills
Proficiency with metalwork, basic machining, welding, alignment, and fabrication .
Electrical/Control Systems
Familiarity with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley), SCADA, VFDs, SCRs, electrical wiring, motor starters, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems
Analytical & Tech Skills
Ability to read schematics and blueprints, use Excel, CMMS, SAP, and SCADA tools; perform precision measuring and system calibration
Physical Requirements & Soft Skills
Physically capable (lifting - 50â¯lb, bending, standing); strong communication, initiative, teamwork, and ability to work shifts/overtime.
