JOB SUMMARY:
Our client is recruiting for an Operations Manager. This is a permanent appointment. Position based in Johannesburg Northern suburbs.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job purpose:

Lead the manufacturing function within budget and output to meet customer requirements and standards.
Full accountability for ensuring safety , customer quality, cost and delivery requirements are met.
Candidate will be required to provide support and relevant reports.
The job will require extensive self-management experience, coordination & planning to ensure achievement of project & other milestones.
The position will be required to plan & take responsibility for full product support of the vehicles were allocated too.

Key performance areas:

Effectively and efficiently manage the production of the required daily/weekly/monthly targets in line with customer specifications, meeting quality and delivery expectations, minimising costs where possible and ensure the required best working practices are maintained at all times.
Responsible for plant production, financial performance, meeting customer requirements ans maintaining the orderly and productive operation of planned activities.
Ensure the target productivity level is achieved on a daily basis.
Update the production plan on a daily basis.
Communicate and liaise with other departmental manager regarding throughput of stock to ensure production targets are met.
Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.
Produce written reports and make presentations.
Undertake continuous training and development
Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects , including the engagement of external resources as required.

Qualifications and experience:
· 10 years experience in Manufacturing / Armoured Vehicles
· Operations/Plant back ground
· Extensive knowledge of ERP systems .
· Project Management experience
· Engineering Qualifications ( advantageous)

Technical knowledge on armoured vehicles
Strong planning skills
Strong people & communication skills.
Technical accuracy
Proactive and keen problem solver
Must be able to perform under extreme pressure.
Good communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally.
Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts costs and customer order fulfilment
Results orientated and organised with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines.

Be able to perform within a team.

Computer literate - Excel, words. Weekly reporting.
