JOB SUMMARY:
Our client in the Wood industry is looking for a Operations Manager (Value Added -VAP/SCANLUX) to join their team in White River, Mpumalanga.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements:

Valid grade 12 qualification (or equivalent) with proof thereof required
Formal certificate/diploma/other qualification in the field of Wood Technology/Wood Science
Fluency in English required (Reading, writing & speaking) (Fluency in additional official language/s advantageous)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required (Excel, Outlook and Word)
Experience in a Sawmill or Timber Value-Adding production
Good understanding of the market for value-added products
Sound knowledge of and technical aptitude for sawmilling/timber value-adding equipment, machinery and operations
Knowledge of SANS/SATAS/Grading standards advantageous
Innovative & entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to explore new means to add value to internal products
Being able to communicate with customers and being able to introduce new products to the market to grow the current line of products
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently as a self-starter
Manage, lead and control all aspects of a production team of 50-60 employees, including Foremen, Team Leaders and Operators
Effective raw material sourcing and interaction with internal and external suppliers
Operate and manage the value-adding operations as an independent profit-centre to ensure long term sustainability
