Payroll Officer

POSITION INFO:

Our manufacturing client based in the Pietermaritzburg area is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer proficient in VIP Payroll of People 300. 

Minimum Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in HR Management
• Payroll qualification is advantageous

Experience Required

• 5 years’ experience in a similar position
• Previous experience working on VIP Payroll or People 300 is essential
• Experience working with payroll in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with maintaining time and attendance system

Key Skills and Knowledge required:

• Knowledge of South African Labour Law such as LRA, BCEA, EE and SD Act
• MEIBC Main agreement
• Computer Literate (Advanced knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Word, VIP Premier or People 300)

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for running the full payroll cycle including all tax submissions
• Month end schedules for Bargaining Council
• Ensure accurate payroll documentation (scheduled and/or ad hoc) is sent through to Finance within agreed deadlines and follow-up on queries and outstanding issues
• Weekly wages and monthly salaries
• Ensure timely distribution of payslips
• Ensure employee expense claims submitted timeously with payroll
• SARS submission for UIF, SDL AND PAYE
• Payroll reconciliations
• Leave administration and reconciliations
• Maintenance of Shift Calculations for LP and LEP calculation
• Reconciliation of billings (e.g. Medical Aid) to payroll deductions
• Provide input into the HR report
