Port and Coastal Leader

Role responsibilities:
The Port and Coastal Leader is a Technical Director role in our Client’s Resources Market, where they work for clients in the mining environment and the transport sector across Africa and the Middle East. Will be based in Cape Town.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing the Client’s Port and Coastal team, including resource planning, budgeting, strategic planning, financial planning and reporting, work winning and client relationship management.
- Acting as the Expertise Lead for Ports and Coastal.
- Design coordination and project management.
- Mentorship and development of team and knowledge transfer.
- Technical review and verification of designs.
- Managing and creating conceptual, preliminary, and detail designs in the ports and coastal engineering field.
- Contribution to winning work via bids and proposals.
- Active coordination and interfacing with different stakeholders, multi-disciplinary teams, and clients on multi-disciplinary projects, e.g. environmental services, local municipalities and authorities, architects and developers, and of course, other engineering disciplines (geotechnical, pavements design, materials handling).
Minimum requirements:
- Qualifications relevant to structural and/or marine engineering (B.Tech / BSc / MSc, or B.Eng, and M,Eng,)
- Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) with at least 10 years’ experience in the relevant field.
- Ports and coastal engineering design experience.
- Familiarity with international codes and standards related to marine and coastal design as well as structural analysis.
The following are deemed beneficial:
- Team management experience will be valuable
- Coastal and/or Port Planning experience
- Knowledge in / experience of metocean modelling (e.g. wave modelling with SWAN)
- Project experience in both Africa and the Middle East
