Product Specification Specialist

SUMMARY:
We’re seeking a driven Product Specification Specialist to join a dynamic team within a leading matting and flooring solutions provider based in Cape Town.

With over 40 years of Industry experience and a strong presence across South Africa, this company delivers high-quality entrance matting, workplace safety products, rubber sheeting, cable protectors, and more, serving both distributors and end‑users.

Organisational Reporting:

• Reporting include but not limited to: 1) Project Pipeline Reporting and 2) Working with and Management of Specifying Services Suppliers and Platforms.

• Search paid-for and public platforms to identify and record all projects relevant to this company's product offering.
• Work with all service providers, Specifying Services, to search for, identify and record all projects relevant to this company's product offering.

• Target Specifying Market, including Corporate Clients, Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Interior Designers, Construction Companies, Facility / Property Managers and Engineer to introduce this company's range of relevant products to market segment.
• Monthly presentations and on-site or virtual engagements with Specifying Professionals.

• It is expected to conduct presentations to a number of professionals monthly.
• Targets to be set.
• It is expected for the candidate to secure a number of product specifications monthly. Target to be set.

• Assist in preparation for any exhibitions that we either attend alone or jointly with distributors.

• Prepare detailed quotations, including availability, price and delivery forecast effectively and efficiently in accordance with company procedures and requirements.
• Take a pro-active approach to understanding product applications and alternatives.
• Stock Awareness - select stock in adherence to First in First out principles whenever practicable.
• Raise all necessary documentation, including other acknowledgments.
• Amend customer orders where necessary.

• Proactively contacting customers, keeping them fully always updated.
• Notifying customers of any known issues or information that may conflict with their requirements or cause delays.

• Ensuring that all customer complaints are recorded, providing the necessary details to carry out the relevant corrective actions, preventative action, credit notes and sundry invoices where applicable.
• High EQ (emotional quotient otherwise known as Emotional Intelligence): It is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathise with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict

• Making sure that all customer information is completed in a timely and precise manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Director level professionals, Architects, Interior Designers, Quantity Surveyors and Engineers.
