Company Overview

The Guma Group is involved in various infrastructure development and services such as; Engineering & Construction (Building & Civil), Energy (Solar, Wind, & Hydro) , Water & Sanitation, Toll Roads & Bridges, Railways, Port developments & operations.

In particular Guma has secured projects in the DRC including the development of three new smart cities in the DRC and the construction of 26 new hospitals across the DRC.

Smart Cities:

Guma has been appointed by the government of the DRC to develop the scheme, arrange for the finance, design and construction of three smart cities in Kinshasa, Mbuji Mayi and Kolwezi

Phase I of the development will include the securing of the finances, the development of the design and appointment of contractors to install the infrastructure required by a smart city that will include:

1. Installation of roads and stormwater drainage systems
2. Installation of potable water
3. Installation of wastewater management systems.
4. Electrical reticulation systems
5. Fiber optic backbone and network infrastructure.

New Hospitals:

Guma has been appointed as the implementing agent responsible for the securing of the finance, development of the schemes and subsequent design, construction, operation and management of the hospitals.

These hospitals will be top tier medical facilities that will provide a full comprehensive suite of medical care facilities that includes emergency services, obstetrics, pediatrics, oncology, internal medicine, tropical decease management, TB specialist ward.

Key Responsibilities:

~ Planning the work to be done, getting the necessary personnel, and assigning the right duties to the right people

~ Coordinating tasks by different people on different sites to ensure uniformity upon project completion

~ Ensuring timely completion of the project to build client trust while avoiding unnecessary penalties

~ Working within the budget by adequately estimating the costs and cutting unnecessary expenses

~ Procuring and allocating resources to ensure there is no shortage while avoiding any unnecessary delays caused by management decisions

~ Managing both internal and external risks within the project’s lifetime, such as poor planning designs, and government policies, which directly or indirectly affect the project

Skills:

~ Ability to lead a team by being a good and effective communicator

~ Excellence in building rapport and creating a team environment where all those with project responsibilities work well together

~ Ability to maintain a high level of organization by ensuring daily job allocation

~ Excellence in planning how each process should be done, how resources are to be acquired, and when the project should be completed

~ Ability to determine potential risks while devising proactive ways to solve them

~ Excellence in the budgeting of financial resources

~ Ability to welcome feedback and use it to improve the quality of production

~ Excellence in verbal and oral communication skills

Criteria for Preferred Candidates:

~ 10 to 15 years’ work experience in building works/construction projects

~ Certified PMP/CPCMP

~ Proficiency in English and French (Added Advantage)
Fluent in English (Read & Write)

~ Must have work experience in cross boarder countries.

~ Must have driver’s license

~ Must be healthy

~ Hold a valid passport

~ COVID 19 Vaccinated

Location: Initially start up in Johannesburg. Frequent travel and extended periods in the DRC from mid-2023
