POSITION INFO:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are a SAIPA-accredited training firm looking for a SAIPA Trainee Clerk with a strong interest in auditing and assurance work. This position is suited for a motivated individual who is currently studying BCom Accounting part-time and wishes to pursue a career in audit, assurance, and accounting while completing their SAIPA articles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with planning and execution of audits for SME clients
• Compile and complete audit working papers under supervision
• Perform substantive testing of financial statement line items
• Verify documentation, conduct analytical procedures, and confirm balances
• Assist with preparation of independent reviews and audit reports
• Liaise directly with clients to obtain records and resolve audit queries
• Ensure compliance with IFRS for SMEs and SAIPA ethical guidelines
• Support preparation of management accounts and tax returns when needed
• Maintain proper audit documentation and file structure
• Learn and apply audit procedures using firm audit software

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Studying BCom Accounting part-time
• High interest in audit and assurance work
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured audit processes
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word, and email
• Ability to work both independently and in a team
• Professional attitude and willingness to learn

PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED)

• Exposure to CaseWare, DraftWorx, Pastel, or Sage
• Previous internship or experience in an accounting or auditing environment
• Familiarity with SARS eFiling and basic tax concepts
