SUMMARY:
Psybergate is an IT company that builds bespoke software solutions and provides highly skilled resources to its clients.
We are looking for a Senior Base24 Developer / Base24 Engineer to join our financial services client based in Johannesburg for a 12-months contract role.

We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in card payments systems and Base24. You will be responsible for the end-to-end development and support of critical payment processing components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and maintaining the robustness of production systems.

POSITION INFO:
What you will be doing:

Develop and maintain solutions involving Credit, Debit, and Prepaid card processing, adhering to Visa and MasterCard regulations.
Work extensively on the Base24 Classic platform, including development, configuration, and support.
Handle daily production support activities—analyzing logs, resolving incidents, and responding to helpdesk/stakeholder queries.
Conduct in-depth analysis of batch system issues and proactively resolve potential problems.
Manage configurations and deployments in a high-availability transaction switching environment.

Contribute to card transaction processing areas including:

ATM, POS, and EFT acquiring
Transaction switching and routing
Issuing functionality and host interfaces
Cryptographic components and device management
Lead and support Base24 initiatives including switch setup, configuration, migration, and scheme certifications.
Participate in full software development lifecycle using the SDLC model—covering design, development, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.

What we are looking for:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
8 years of software engineering experience, with hands-on work in Java and enterprise systems
Experience with AWS, Java, Spring Boot, and Angular.
SWIFT standards and their integration into financial systems.
Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD practices
Proven ability to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex production issues
Experience in payments and financial switching environments
Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
A proactive and detail-oriented approach with a passion for excellence in software engineering
