A technology company in Cape Town is seeking a Senior Electronic Hardware Engineer.

POSITION INFO:

We are currently seeking a Senior Electronic Hardware Engineer to take a key role in the development of next-generation electronic platforms.

Role Overview:
As a Senior Electronic Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of complex electronic hardware systems. This is a hands-on role that combines circuit design expertise with leadership in technical decision-making, mentoring Junior Engineers, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the end-to-end design of electronic circuits, including analog, digital, and power electronics
Produce detailed schematics, PCB layouts (or support Layout Engineers), and bills of materials
Perform simulations, design reviews, and circuit verification testing
Ensure compliance with EMC, safety, and regulatory standards (e.g., CE, FCC, and MIL-STD)
Drive prototype builds, fault-finding, and hardware debugging
Collaborate closely with firmware, systems, and mechanical teams
Mentor Junior Engineers and review their designs for quality and best practices
Support product development from concept to production and in-service life

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or a related field
5+ years of experience in electronic hardware design and development
Strong understanding of microcontrollers, FPGAs, signal integrity, and power supply design
Experience with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, and Mentor Graphics)
Familiarity with EMC mitigation techniques and environmental standards
Skilled at debugging, lab testing, and root cause analysis
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
