JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements:

Doctoral degree in Sociology, Development Studies or an appropriate cognate field
5 years teaching experience in a higher education environment
A proven track record of scholarly publications
Evidence of a postgraduate supervision record

Added advantages:

NRF research rating
Evidence of appropriate community engagements
A qualification in higher education, teaching and learning or progress towards such a qualification

Responsibilities Include:

Teach Sociology courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level
Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects
Produce scholarly publications
Participate in collaborative research projects undertaken locally and internationally
Refine curricula at undergraduate and postgraduate level
Participate in community engagement initiatives identified by the department, faculty and University
Mentor junior members of staff and postgraduate students
Participate and contribute to department, faculty and University administrative responsibilities
