JOB SUMMARY:

A well-established manufacturer of plant nutrition products is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead and manage the production operations within the factory, ensuring production operations are aligned to achieve company goals and that company approved processes are effectively implemented and executed.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements for the role:

Must have a BSc Honours Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory level in a manufacturing environment in the chemical or agricultural industries is essential
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel will be required
Must be able to organize and complete multiple projects and to strictly deploy and implement protocols and processes.
Good communication skills, specifically in English and Afrikaans, with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders of all levels, will be required
Must have a valid driver’s license.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Planning, managing and leading production operations to achieve business objectives, with emphasis on quality control, health and safety, environment, service, and cost.
Proactively improving production operations efficiency in a focused, target-driven manner through sustainable practices.
Developing the production team, including performance and career management and development, coaching, and succession planning.
Managing and improving quality control processes.
Performing process manufacturing tasks in line with the production manual.
Supervising tasks to meet production procurement, scheduling, product quality and organizational health and safety standards.
Optimising the use of manufacturing resources.
Managing and improving quality control processes.
Recording manufacturing steps and production notes and identifying and notifying management of any deviations.
Inspecting and testing finished goods to meet production quality standards.
Managing communication within manufacturing and packaging processes to achieve integration between the manufacturing, packaging procurement and quality control departments.
Reporting manufacturing and packaging performance and other relevant issues to the production manager.
Constantly developing new ideas and methods to improve operational performance and improve product quality and customer reliability in alignment with the production manager.
Continuously assisting the team to improve manufacturing process, quality control, cost saving, etc.
Coordinating a cross functional team where production integrates with quality assurance, customer orders, logistics, maintenance, and procurement to achieve quality standards, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Monitoring and improving activities to meet organizational health, environmental and safety targets and standards.
Providing training in using equipment and instruments and process control.
Performing other duties as assigned by superiors.

Salary package is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
