An esteemed public sector client is seeking a Specialist: Audit (Mining) to join their Large Business & International Division based in Johannesburg. This pivotal role will see the successful candidate conduct high-level, multi-period tax audits with far-reaching implications. Key Responsibilities:

• Independently plan and conduct complex tax audits across multiple periods and tax types
• Identify risks and recommend tactical solutions using industry best practices
• Contribute to legislative recommendations within the Mining industry
• Guide debt recovery through audit assessments
• Deliver quality audit outcomes to drive voluntary compliance
• Provide technical mentorship to team members and liaise with external stakeholders
• Integrate and apply legislative, procedural and policy frameworks effectively
• Recommend and implement process, system and policy optimisations
• Monitor financial controls and governance standards within area of specialisation

Requirements:

• Relevant Bachelor’s Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Tax/Audit, with 8–10 years’ tax audit experience in the Mining sector, including 3–4 years in a specialist role
  OR
  Senior Certificate (NQF 4) with 15 years’ tax audit experience in the Mining sector, including 3–4 years in a specialist role
• Demonstrated technical proficiency in tax legislation and mining audit practices
• Proven analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills
• Experience influencing compliance outcomes and driving sector-specific recommendations
• Familiarity with financial governance, reporting, and policy development
