Our client is seeking a Technical Support Technician to join their team within the security sector and take responsibility for customer issues reported till a resolution is found. Strong technical knowledge of various alarm systems, the installation, programming and fault finding is essential.


Essential Knowledge:
Understanding of RF communication
Knowledge of networks and network infrastructure
Knowledge of alarm communication technology in the security industry.
Knowledge of the operations within the security industry.

Required Experience:
Degree or completed coursework in engineering or electronics.
A Relevant certificate or license may be required.
2 years of direct customer interaction.
2 years of experience with alarm control panels on a senior technician level.
Good communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
Driver’s license and own car.

Key Skills:
Thorough understanding of electronics principles and design.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Detail-oriented and organized.
Excellent problem-solving ability.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Key Performance Areas: (Not limited to)

Technical Support Desk
  • Telephonic and email support of our products and various alarm panels.
  • Internal technical support to the departments as required.
Network Maintenance
  • Field repairs, installation and maintenance of new radio equipment/systems (base stations & repeaters) whilst adhering to correct procedures and quality standards.
  • Travel when necessary to both National and International customers.
Equipment Testing
  • Testing of our products
  • Fault finding down to component level.
Technical Reporting
  • Compiling of weekly technical reports which include: Nationwide network activity reports, GPRS down time reports, “Lock On” tracking reports, Radio activity reports, Incoming call reports and Nationwide FTT reports.
Sales Support
  • Assist sales with technical queries as needed.
  • Attend sales meetings in a technical capacity.
  • Achieve certain goals in terms of customer maintenance and contracts.
Field Support
  • After hours Standby duty for a 7 day period as determined by business requirements and according to a predetermined schedule. This will be for both VHF and GPRS customers.
  • On-site support for customers during working hours for all RDC products.
  • Conducting training sessions for our customers on our products as the business requires.
