SUMMARY:
Responsible for the maintenance of the training tracks, racing, buildings and manage trainers’ expectations and staff members on matters related to operations and equipment.

& KNOWLEGE:

- Matric or equivalent
- Diploma in Horticulture (i.e., majoring in Sports Turf Management/Turf Grass Management) OR relevant tertiary qualification
- 5 - 6 years’ experience in a similar position
- Strong background in tracks, facility management and building maintenance
- Mechanical experience
- Knowledge in health and safety and horse racing
- Computer literacy
- Driver’s licence: C1/Code 10

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
|
- Oversee the maintenance of the horse racing training tracks daily (i.e., sand tracks, walkways, horse rings, irrigations system, grass track and stables
- Managing and coordinating projects within the area of your responsibility (i.e., tracks refurbish, building maintenance and facilities)
- Maintenance of tracks’ equipment workshop as well as the fleet of equipment
- Managing staff and the contractors that are responsible for landscape maintenance in and around the training centre complex
- Plant and equipment (including starting stalls, tracks, and irrigation system and wate supply pumps)
- Manage and coordinate daily activities of workers engaged in maintenance and construction of racetracks, buildings, grounds, and parking facility
- Assist with compilation and management of the budget
- The compilation of the programme for annual spring treatment on the grass track
- Creation and implementation of maintenance schedules/programme
- Daily and weekly tracks report
- Horse gallops, starting stalls and divot repairs
- Managing the maintenance and service of Gen-sets, and collaborate with workshop team, management team to maximize production
- Establish good communication channels between top management, trainers, and our staff members
- Sitting in as trainers’ committee representative
- Ability to actively participate, plan and execute specific projects
- Proven ability to work with discretion and confidentiality
- Manage any other special project in the racing industry
- Tackle adhoc duties as required or requested by management
- Establish collaborative relationships with professionals, support staff and internal /external clients
