POSITION INFO:

An established concern in energy generation is now on the lookout for an influential and assertive Tax Manager to join their dynamic finance team on a 12-month contract basis. This amazing opportunity will allow the successful candidate to exhibit their leadership and analytical skills. The ideal individual for this role will have hands-on experience in South African Tax laws and regulations.

The key responsibilities for this role will include:

Tax Compliance and Reporting
Tax Strategy and Planning
Advisory and Business Support
Audit, Risk Management, and Governance
Stakeholder and Advisor Management
Operational Excellence and KPIs

As you will be responsible for hitting the ground running extensive experience is essential. You will also be hands-on involved with the department.

The requirements:

Qualification:

Chartered Accountant CA (SA) or Certified Chartered Tax Advisor

Experience:

International & Corporate Tax experience within Big Four / large tax accounting firms (6 to 10 years) or 8 years being tax manager in a large company (energy, oil & gas sector preferred)
Experience of handling tax audits
Experience of accounting (IFRS), treasury and company law issues affecting transactions (requires a broad understanding of these areas rather than in-depth knowledge)

Skills Required:

Comprehensive knowledge of South African tax laws and regulations
Strong analytical and research skills
Must have a high degree of skill in Business Computing Applications such as Word Processors, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint Enterprise Resource Planning applications (Maximo/SAP or equivalent)
Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS or local GAAP)
Ability to act independently to prioritize, initiate, resolve and complete actions required to take the business forward to meet goals
Ability to effectively interact with non-financial departments
