Technical Buyer

SUMMARY:
Are you a sharp negotiator with technical insight and a passion for precision? My client is looking for a Technical Buyer to join their team and play a critical role in sourcing, negotiating, and procuring the technical materials and components that power their manufacturing success.

POSITION INFO:
As a Technical Buyer, you will be responsible for the following:

• Source and procure raw materials, mechanical/electrical components, spare parts, and technical services per engineering specifications and production needs
• Liaise with engineering and production teams to understand technical requirements and ensure accurate procurement
• Evaluate suppliers on price, quality, and delivery; and maintain strong supplier relationships
• Read and interpret technical drawings, specs, and BOMs to identify sourcing needs accurately
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure the timely replenishment of critical items
• Manage RFQs, quotations, and procurement data within ERP systems
• Track KPIs (cost savings, lead times, and supplier performance) and report accordingly thereon
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and industry regulations
• Troubleshoot supply issues, such as delays or shortages, and drive solutions
• Contribute to continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives

• Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Procurement, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in a technical procurement role in a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, technical specs, and industrial materials
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Syspro is essential)
• Excellent communication, analytical, and supplier negotiation skills
