Tooling Fitter - Maintenance

SUMMARY:
Maintain and attend to breakdowns on all mechanical components within the the plant. Shift role based in Wadeville, Gauteng

POSITION INFO:
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Knowledge of maintenance procedures
• Own reliable transport
• Ability to communicate, understand, read and write English
• Must be punctual (essential)
• Willing to work as per shift assignments

• Use appropriate tools to remove with care, the bearing box from the machine.
• Inspect for any signs of damage or unusual wear on the housing.
• Use appropriate tool to remove with care, the bearings from the bearing box.
• Ensure the housing is intact and not damaged during the process.
• Use the correct solvent to thoroughly clean the bearings.
• Use a soft brush to remove any accumulated dirt or contaminants.
• After cleaning, dry the bearings completely to eliminate and residual solvent.
• Use a micrometer or accurate measuring instrument to assess the end play of the bearings.
• Compare the measurements with the manufacturer’s specifications to determine if the bearings fall within the permissible tolerances.
• Replace spacer on bearings by carefully removing the old spacer, install new spacer and ensure spacer is correctly mounted.
• Reinstall bearings in the bearing box with care not to damage bearings or the housing and ensure bearings are correctly aligned
• Lubricate the bearing box by applying recommended lubricant and ensure both the bearing and housing are adequately lubricated for optimal operation.
• Removal of excess lubricant to prevent accumulation and contamination.
