Our client in the short term insurance sector is looking for an Underwriting Administrator to join their team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and proactive individual with strong administrative skills, good systems knowledge, and a willingness to learn and grow within the industry.
The client is open to training the right person, making this a fantastic opportunity for a junior or mid-level candidate with administrative experience and some exposure to short-term insurance, supported by relevant qualifications. Preference will be given to applicants who already have industry experience.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the underwriting team.
- Assist in the preparation and processing of policy documentation, renewals, and endorsements.
- Capture and update client and policy information accurately on internal systems.
- Liaise with brokers, clients, and insurers to obtain required documentation or follow up on outstanding information.
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and internal procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and manage electronic filing systems.
- Support in handling queries and ensuring timely communication between internal departments.
Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
- A relevant short-term insurance qualification (e.g., RE 5, FAIS credits, NQF Level 4 in Short-Term Insurance) is highly advantageous.
- Previous administrative experience in a professional environment.
- Exposure to or experience in the short-term insurance industry is preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office and comfortable working on internal insurance systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A proactive and willing attitude with a strong desire to learn and grow.
