Job title: Workshop Technician
Work Location: Cape Town
Division/Department: Workshop
Reports to: Warehouse and Workshop Manager

Overall Responsibility: Responsible for general maintenance and repair of stock and building of required items needed. Assemble or fabricate mechanical parts, pieces or products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required Specifications in a manufacturing organization.

Main responsibilities:
Technician

• Maintenance and repairing all events equipment and  items needed for events
• Building and erecting of new required equipment/items as per customers' specification
• Management of workshop stock (tools and materials)
• Responsible for maintenance of all workshop tools 
• Inventory developed and updated
• Create specific weldment set-ups and fixturing to meet geometric requirements
•  Perform quality checks to ensure the products meet quality standards
• Identify product defects and complete appropriate reports
• Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, weld symbols, bill of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately create equipment and products
• Welding and manufacturing as per customers' specifications
• Building assemblies as per bill of materials

• General Cleaning and Housekeeping of the Workshop
• Regularly inspect and maintain tools and machinery
• Mandate the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, goggles, and ear protection, depending on the nature of the work
• Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures
• Maintain a clean and safe working area

• Utilize handheld tools such as drill, grinders and cutters
• Maintain welding machines using preventative maintenance methods
• Operate Calipers, weld gauges, cutters and other power tools
• Maintain Inventory of all power tools and machinery
• Complete jobcards
• Inspect and sign off all workshop related work
• Continually evaluate weld machine performance and technology to improve cycle times
• Weekly inventory checks and reports
• Daily cleaning of machinery
• Maintain inventory of manufacturing products and welding consumables
• Prioritize work flow through effective communication with management staff

• Matric
• Computer Literacy
• NQF 2 Technical qualification would be advantageous
• Minimum 2 years' work experience in a workshop / technical role
• Knowledge of Maintenance Tools and Equipment
• Valid driver’s license
