The University of Fort Hare is seeking applications from appropriately qualified and experienced candidates for the posts of Professor/Associate Professor in the Department of Physics (1 post), Faculty of Science and Agriculture.

Minimum Requirements:Â

A Doctoral Degree in Physics (preferably in the areas of nuclear physics or renewable energy)
At least 10 years teaching experience in higher education for full Professor / 7 years experience in higher education for Associate Professor

Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience in physics (preferably in the areas of nuclear physics or renewable energy)
A track record of accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of Professor / Associate Professor
Postgraduate supervision experience including successful Doctoral supervision

Duties:

Provide academic leadership in research, curriculum design, development, and implementation
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in physics; specializing in nuclear physics or renewable energy
Secure external research grants and establish research programs
Establish national and international collaborations
Supervise Honours, Masters and Doctoral students and host post-doctoral fellows
Meet research publication requirements appropriate for the academic rank
Contribute to academic leadership and mentorship of academic staff
Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching and/or research
Participate in administrative duties at departmental, faculty and university levels
