STUDENT LIFE AND SUPPORT SERVICES OFFICER (REF 8401)

JOB DESCRIPTION:


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Facilitate programmes that enhance integration, social cohesion and create a welcoming environment for international students.
  • Develop and facilitate orientation programme, welcome functions and cultural celebrations for international students.
  • Plan and facilitate the annual programme of action for international students, and the election process of their new committees.
  • Liaise with residence division to ensure timeous residence allocation for international students, and advise them on accommodation related matters.
  • Share information about available bursaries, and funding opportunities for studies within RSA.
  • Support international students with registration processes, bursaries and related financial enquiries.
  • Prepare letters for study permit application purpose by prospective and returning international students.
  • Advice and support international students on matters related to student life and support services.
  • Facilitate the production of the newsletter, brochures and other office communication materials.
  • Use various media platforms to market the university and to recruit prospective international students.
  • Attend to international students’ enquiries including those related to registration, study visas and medical aid cover.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Honours degree in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences, or Education, or Management and Commerce.
  • A minimum of two (2) years working experience with International Students within the field of Internationalisation.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in developing and facilitating international students’ services and related programmes in an institution of higher learning.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • Experience of working at various levels at an institution of higher learning will be an added advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of the immigration regulations and requirements for international students.
  • Driver’s license will be an added advantage.

  • Sound knowledge of Immigration regulations.
  • Appreciation for cultural diversity.
  • Teamwork and office organizational skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy packages such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, PowerPoint and Outlook.
