About This Role
As a Risk Adjustment Data Scientist at myPlace Health, youll do more than work with numbersyoull help shape how we care for the communities we serve. In this role, youll partner closely with business, clinical, and operational leaders to uncover high-value challenges and design innovative, data-driven solutions. Youll build predictive models, develop scalable data pipelines, and transform complex healthcare data into clear insights that guide critical decisions.
Your work will directly influence provider engagement, improve documentation and coding accuracy, and ensure compliant, data-driven risk adjustment submissions. By creating dashboards and tools that make data accessible and actionable, youll empower teams across the organization to deliver better outcomes for the participants who rely on us every day.
Responsibilities
- Shape High-Impact Solutions: Partner closely with business and clinical leaders to uncover valuable risk-adjustment challenges and craft innovative, data-driven solutions that improve participant care
- Bring Data to Life: Design and deploy predictive models that estimate risk scores and highlight anomalies across patient populations
- Build Strong Data Foundations: Contribute to robust data pipelines and scalable model infrastructure in Microsoft Fabric, integrating structured and unstructured data
- Collaborate to Deliver: Work with Product and Operations to create production-ready models using version-controlled workflows, CI/CD practices, and cloud environments
- Illuminate the Journey: Track the full lifecycle of risk-adjustment submissions and ensure accuracy and compliance with CMS documents (MAO-004, MOR, MMR)
- Turn Data Into Stories: Build dashboards in Power BI to present clear, actionable insights for leaders
- Drive Better Engagement: Monitor physician performance in risk-adjustment workflows and identify opportunities for education and workflow optimization
- Standardize for Scale: Develop consistent documentation logic, definitions, and reporting workflows for enterprise-wide analytics
- Simplify the Complex: Translate intricate data findings into actionable insights for Operations, Clinical, and Finance teams
- Pitch In Where Needed: Contribute to additional projects with a collaborative problem-solving approach
Ideal Candidate Look Like
- A Strong Educational Foundation: Masters degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field
- Proven Real-World Impact: 4+ years of experience applying machine learning and predictive modeling
- Hands-On Coding Expertise: Proficiency in Python (preferred) or R, with end-to-end data science solution delivery
- Data Wrangler Skills: Strong SQL experience transforming large-scale healthcare data into insights
- Technical Rigor: Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering best practices
- Advanced Machine Learning Know-How: Knowledge of predictive modeling, classification, and natural language processing
- Healthcare Data Savvy: Experience analyzing large datasets such as claims, EMR, enrollment, and operational data
- Insight Translator: Ability to turn complex analysis into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Effective Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication with a collaborative mindset
- Risk Adjustment Expertise: Hands-on experience with CMS-HCC, PACE, or Medicare Advantage models
- Healthcare Data Familiarity: Knowledge of datasets including 837 files, EMR, and eligibility data
- Workflow Awareness: Understanding of physician engagement processes that support coding accuracy
- Big Data Proficiency: Experience with Spark, Fabric, Databricks, or Snowflake
- Cloud Environment Experience: Comfortable with Azure, AWS, or similar platforms
- Visual Storytelling Skills: Proficient in Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools

The Fine Print
- Hybrid with Purpose: Based in Los Angeles, with up to 2 onsite days per week depending on business needs
