Actuarial Specialist Job Overview
As an actuarial analyst, you'll work with large data sets to answer questions such as how much risk a specific product or service has or how many people will use it. You'll develop models, run simulations and analyse results to help improve business decisions.Responsibilities of a Actuarial Specialist
The specific duties of an actuary vary by employer, but typical responsibilities include:- Using statistical analysis techniques such as regression analysis and time series analysis on large data sets
- Developing models for pricing financial products such as life insurance policies and fixed annuities
- Support all aspects of insurance operations, including product development, pricing and underwriting;
- Modelling cash flows, risk exposure and portfolio performance over time
- Determining the probability of future events based on historical experience
- Create reports regarding various aspects of insurance coverage (e.g., premium analysis) for internal use by management or external use by clients
Qualifications to be an Actuarial Specialist
- Bachelor's degree in finance, actuarial science, statistics, business, mathematics, economics
- Experience as an Actuarial
- Robust skills in actuarial mathematics, with vast knowledge in probability theory, mathematics, investment theory and statistics
- Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills; interpret and share complex and challenging topics with colleagues and stakeholders in simple, easy-to-understand language
- Creative problem-solving skills, research and analytical skills
- Expert IT skills
