As an actuarial analyst, you'll work with large data sets to answer questions such as how much risk a specific product or service has or how many people will use it. You'll develop models, run simulations and analyse results to help improve business decisions.

Responsibilities of a Actuarial Specialist

The specific duties of an actuary vary by employer, but typical responsibilities include:

• Using statistical analysis techniques such as regression analysis and time series analysis on large data sets
• Developing models for pricing financial products such as life insurance policies and fixed annuities
• Support all aspects of insurance operations, including product development, pricing and underwriting;
• Modelling cash flows, risk exposure and portfolio performance over time
• Determining the probability of future events based on historical experience
• Create reports regarding various aspects of insurance coverage (e.g., premium analysis) for internal use by management or external use by clients

Qualifications to be an Actuarial Specialist

• Bachelor's degree in finance, actuarial science, statistics, business, mathematics, economics
• Experience as an Actuarial
• Robust skills in actuarial mathematics, with vast knowledge in probability theory, mathematics, investment theory and statistics
• Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills; interpret and share complex and challenging topics with colleagues and stakeholders in simple, easy-to-understand language
• Creative problem-solving skills, research and analytical skills
• Expert IT skills
