The ultimate goal of a DevOps engineer is to improve productivity in the workplace and deliver valuable services to their consumers. Responsibilities of a DevOps Engineer

• Build software to integrate with internal back-end systems.
• Work collaboratively by identifying and implementing DevOps/SysOps engineering best practices
• Perform root cause analysis for production errors.
• Create IT systems infrastructure architecture, standards and roadmaps.
• Write and also maintain custom scripts to increase efficiency.
• Collaborate with other engineers and technology functions to deliver secure and reliable solutions
• Develop scripts to automate visualisation
• Delegate your team’s workload based on available capacity and manage the expectations of stakeholders
• Ensure platform uptimes are adhered to by using monitoring tools to automatically surface alerts
• Create tools to reduce errors and improve customer experience.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues

DevOps Engineer Skills & Qualifications

• A BSc or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
• Experience with software engineering, civil engineering and customer experience
• Skills as a DevOps Engineer or related software engineering role
• Proficient with git and git workflows
• Skills in developing engineering applications for large companies
• Working knowledge of databases and SQL
• Good understanding of Ruby or Python
• Good interpersonal skills
• Problem-solving attitude
• Work collaboratively in a team
