An equity analyst’s job is to analyse an organisation based on its fundamentals and therefore determine what the company is worth. The job includes conversing with company management, industry experts, competitors, and investors. These analysts use their expertise in stocks to give financial guidance to individual brokers and investors to make the right decision when it comes to investment opportunities.

Responsibilities of a Equity Analyst

• Analysing company financial reports
• Producing financial models
• Provide direction and advice on equities to buy, sell and hold
• Stay informed about recent industry news
• Preparing internal and external investment reports
• Tracking industry and market trends as well as investment opportunities

Equity Analyst Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a similar field
• A minimum of 3 years' experience as an equity analyst in a related industry
• Expert knowledge of industry-related securities, including stocks and bonds
• Preferably CFA or related experience or studying towards the designation
